This trip was born back in 2025, when Kika and I rode through Tuscany just the two of us. We figured it would be a shame not to show such a beautiful region to our friends too, and that's how the idea for this roughly week-long, easygoing trip came about.
Unlike our usual trips, we decided to do Florence-Rome in Dolce Vita style, which made it the first trip in our history without sleeping mats, sleeping bags, or a tent - every night we stayed somewhere with a real bed. Finding accommodation for 6-7 people is always trickier than for two, but that just made it more fun.
Even though there are no high mountains on the map in this area, Tuscany knows how to surprise you. It started right after Florence - small hills, big hills, up and down, up and down again. By the end of the first day everyone already knew this wasn't going to be flat, and Mišo was glad he'd put lower gears on his bike.
The following days carried on in the same spirit, taking us through towns like San Gimignano, Montepulciano, Monteriggioni and Siena. Most of our route ran through Tuscany, which we already knew well, but that made it all the nicer to share it with friends this year. They were won over by the rolling countryside, tree-lined avenues, villas perched on hilltops, and historic little towns.
Basically Moravia (the Czech wine region) on steroids - and that goes for the wine and food too, which is genuinely excellent here, everything from kilogram steaks to the local pici pasta (yes, that's really what it's called, and it never stopped being funny to us :D).
This format - where you don't need to pack much and every evening the group can wander through history over great food - turned out to be a huge relax. Luxurious, for sure, but nobody was complaining. Quite the opposite - we're already sure we'll come up with something similar again next year.
